New Addition

Lucas Michael Jones born at 12:21pm weighing 7lbs 10oz and 19 inches long

So It has already been 1 week since I went to the hospital to be induced. I know that time goes by fast but it is almost unbelievable that a week has flown by already.

I went to the hospital Sunday night at 7. They checked me in and then determined that I would need to have cervidil. With cervidil comes 12 hours of waiting and more waiting. I guess it was good that they put it in at night so that I could sleep most of that time. The next morning around 8 they checked me and I still was only dilated 2 centimeters. So they started pitocin and set me up with an epidural. I don't know what it is with me and epidurals but it seems like last time that I got one it didn't exactly start working right away. So the anesthesiologist came back in and gave me a direct shot of some sort of medication and after that it was almost pure bliss. I remember that I kept asking "Why do people do this with out any meds?" "They are crazy" Any way back to my story, the nurse checked me right before she went to lunch and I was dilated to 4 cent. She came back from lunch and I asked her to check me again because I was so numb that I wasn't sure if I was making any progress. So needless to say my epidural was definitly working. I went from a 4 to an 8 within an hour and I didn't feel a thing. From there they called Dr. Stokes and he came over with 2 medical students who helped with the delivery. I think I started pushing at 2:15 and I had him at 2:21pm. Overall it was a pretty enjoyable experience and I know I definitly could not say that if it weren't for mordern medicine.

When Connor came in to see his new brother for the first time he looked at him looked at me and then wanted to get down and run around. As you can tell he wasn't that interested in him.

After a few days I think he finally realized that he wasn't going anywhere. He has been a lot better than I expected. He has wanted to hold him and he gives him plenty of kisses.

Dr. Apt

I went to the doctor today for my weekly checkup. She said that I am 2 centimeters dilated and about 70% effaced. Since Dr. Stokes' practice and Center for Women's Health have joined together for deliveries they give you the option to set up a date to be induced if you want to choose a certain doctor to deliver you. So Ginger the nurse midwife, gave me the option to be induced any day next week and I chose Sunday at 7. I figured the sooner the better:) My sister Rachelle has the whole week off next week so that will be nice to have her help. It just seems to weird that you can set things up like that. Because the whole pregnancy everything is so unexpected and unknown it just feels different to know the day and the hour. Don't get me wrong I am definitely thrilled to have an end in sight. The next time I post it will be with new baby pictures:))

Follow up

Our house is coming along great. They are putting all of the tile in. All of the walls are painted in side and out. They are going to put in the fireplace and I think start laying the hardwood floor next week.
This is our kitchen. I am really thrilled with the way that the Cabinets turned out.

The outside of the house. The pillors are going to have rock around them and the front porch is going to have white railing.

This is me at almost 38 weeks. I went to the doctor last week and she said that I am not dilated at all but my cervix is thinning. I go back to the doctor on Tuesday so hopefully I will be a little further along. I am still feeling pretty good, but I wouldn't be sad if I had him soon:))
